It Was Not You, But God! 10/26/16

I’m so excited to share this with you today.  I want to begin by just telling you that the opportunity I had last week to attend The Awakening, the prayer conference in Arlington TX, has helped me to change my focus and to remind me that our hope in Christ is the GREATEST hope there is.  I’ve seen more clearly these last few days that God is the ONE that I can and will put my trust in and REGARDLESS of what is happening in the world, I KNOW that He is in control and I WILL TRUST IN HIM!  And so that brings me to this blog this morning and the incredible biblical story that I wanted to remind you of.  This is an INCREDIBLE story!  The lessons that we learn here remind us that not only IS God in control, but that NOTHING is ever out of His control!  So, let’s go!

When God Speaks 10/19/16

I have been reading through the Old Testament in my devotional readings each morning and I just finished this morning with the book of Job.  It is a very interesting book . . . to say the least . . . to make perhaps one of the biggest understatements of all time!  The book opens up in the land of Uz and introduces us to a man by the name of Job who
“was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil” (Job 1:1).  We learn that Job was a man who took his role as the spiritual head of his home very seriously, praying constantly for his children.  The the book takes an unusual turn – we find ourselves in the presence of God and lo and behold, satan is there along with the angels!  Did I say this book is interesting?

100 Years and Counting . . . 10/12/16

Well, according to the official record, we are already there – 100 years old!  I’m not sure where I got the information that I’ve shared before, concerning the official start of the congregation here as October 16, but in looking back at the Church Record Book our official “birth date” is September 13, 1916.  Gary Couzzens wrote a book entitled The Nogal Mesa, and in his records he has that the congregation was first formed on September 3, 1916, in the home of H.R. Smith.  Again, I’m not sure where I got the information concerning October 16, 1916, but apparently I was wrong.  However, it does not negate the fact that we still have a great celebration planned for this coming weekend, October 15 and 16, 2016, here at Angus Church.  I hope you’ll plan on being part of any or all of this weekend as we celebrate 100 years!  But ultimately, that isn’t what is important!
