Who Will You Affect? 10/5/16

We live in an age when everyone is trying to get their “15 minutes of fame!”  We have FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, and more opportunities everywhere.  We record “everything” just in case; we take selfies, push ourselves to do more . . . not always in the best way and many times in ways that are just down right dangerous.  We obsess about how many followers we have and who “likes” our posts.  We want to be noticed.  We want people to see us.  We want to be liked.  We want to be famous.  But at what cost?  How is it affecting us and I think the more important question is, how is it affecting the people around us that in reality matter the most?  There is a familiar story from Scripture about a man that was amazing.  He stood head and shoulders above the crowd; he made decisions based not on what was popular, but on what was right.  He was a leader, but he didn’t thrust himself into the spotlight, it was thrust upon him.  He made a difference and that difference affected an entire nation.  I think we are at a place in our history when we need someone, or more correctly MANY someones to stand up and do what is right, regardless of whether it is popular or not and whether it gets us likes or friends or followers.  His name?  Well . . .

November is Coming 9/28/16

You can’t go anywhere online, on social media or on television without reading or listening to someone talk about the first Presidential Debate that took place this past Monday evening.  I read that there were millions who tuned in the debate to see what would happen.  I wonder if they were tuning in to see the debate or to see the debacle they expected?  I saw that the number of viewers of the debate overwhelmingly outnumbered the number of people who watched Monday Night Football. One person, on Face Book, said that they watched the debate and it did nothing to clarify for them how they would vote and I read that those who did the “Fact Checks” on the two candidates said that both of them missed many facts.  I’ve read friends who are pro-Trump and those who are pro-Clinton and both are talking about what they liked from their candidate of choice and most of them ridiculing the other candidate.  Well, I have a confession to make.

Part of the Family of God – 9/21/16

There is something so amazing about being part of the family of God.  We find friends, we find help, we find people who will walk with us through the hard times and celebrate with us through the good times.  We have brothers and sisters that pray for us and with us and most amazing of all we have a Heavenly Father who has done and will do whatever we need to show us how much He loves us.  He loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins and He loves us so much that He has promised that He will never leave us alone.  He has promised that He will supply every need that we have and He has made the promise that He will guard our hearts and our minds through His Son Jesus Christ.  It is amazing to be part of the family of God.  It also gives us some great opportunities!  Look at them with me!
