The Heavens Declare

Perhaps you were up early this morning, on purpose or as a regular course of habit, and saw the super blue blood moon.  We are up each morning at about 4:45 and at about 5:45 we went outside down at the bottom of our driveway to look at the moon.  A blue moon is described as the second full moon in the course of a calendar month.  A super moon is described as a full moon when the moon is the closest to the earth that it will get in its orbit.  And a blood moon or red moon is when there is a lunar eclipse, when the earth is directly in between the moon and the sun and the moon appears to be red.  For all 3 of these to occur at the same time is incredibly rare.  The last lunar eclipse occurred in 2015, but the last super blue moon blood moon able to be observed in the US occurred in 1866.  Wow, and we got to see this one!  (If you didn’t get up early and you missed it, you can go on thousands of sites on the internet and see a time lapse, photos and videos of it – not exactly the same, but at least you’ll get to see it.)

Prayer and Obedience

I believe that there is no power on earth that is as powerful as prayer.  Unfortunately we have gotten to the place where we “know more” and we are “more sophisticated” than we were “before” and now we “realize” that if we are going to get anything done we are going to have to roll up our sleeves, put on our big boy or big girl pants and wade in.  It’s time that we quit “just” praying and realize that nothing is going to get done unless we do it!

So, What’s the Point?

Let’s be sure we know what the point is.  A young preacher was attending a service where a very well known Evangelist was preaching the sermon.  The preacher was shocked to hear him say these words:  “Some of the best and happiest times of my life were spent in the arms of another woman, another man’s wife.”  After a short pause the evangelist said, “That woman was my mother!”  The young preacher thought to himself, “That was a great line, I’ll have to use that sometime.”

A few weeks later the man was asked to address a Civic group in his community and as he was speaking that line came to his mind.  He said, “Ladies, some of the best and happiest days of my life have been spent in the arms of another woman, another man’s wife.”  After a long pause he muttered very meekly, “but for the life of me, I can’t remember who she was.”   Let’s be sure were know what the point is!
