More Than You Can Imagine 11/11/15

Good morning,

Today is Veteran’s Day. A very special thank you to each and every one of your men and women who served our nation in the military. Your sacrifice and willingness to serve stand as a reminder of the difference that one person can make. Again, thank you for your service to us and to our nation.

Writing to the church in Ephesus, Paul wrote these words: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us . . .” (3:20). Paul was talking to the church there about Christ who would “dwell in your hearts.” And then, just a few verses later, he wrote the words that we know as Ephesians 3:20 that I quoted for you above. I want to encourage you today to take these words to heart.

As Christ dwells in us HE can do “immeasurably more” then we can fathom; either in our imaginations or in the daily world that we live and walk in. What could you imagine Christ doing in your life right now? Come on, think about that problem, the issue that is constantly on your mind; the family struggles; the marriage; the finances; the problem with a friend, a sibling, a co-worker or a neighbor. If you were imagining the very, very best that could happen in that situation, what would it be? Come on now, don’t rush past that – think about that issue . . . . . . . . come on, what is it that would be the absolute BEST THING that could happen?

Well, Christ can do more than that! He can take that situation that you might feel or even think is hopeless and turn it completely around and cause it to be reconciled, or fixed, or turn out for good! He can walk into the problem in your life that is impossible, and make it possible. He can do so much more then you could even imagine!

But don’t stop there; look at the remainder of that verse. He can do that “according to the power that is at work within us!” He can do all of that with the power that is already inside of us! He wants to use you. He wants to work through you. He wants to make His power a part of who you are, what you do and where you go! It is HIS power, but it is available through you. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that He’s asking you to come up with the solution or provide the power or resources to fix the issue; He has given us His power to bring about His answers and they are so much better than you or I could even imagine in our wildest imaginations!

That is the work that Christ wants to do through you today! Think about it!

Upcoming Activities

Today, Wednesday November 11 – We have our regular Wednesday evening activities. Why not join us for dinner at 5:00 and then at 6:00 all who are not involved with teens or children are going to meet in the Sanctuary and share our needs, read His Word and then pray together. I hope to see you here!

Saturday November 14 – We will have a meeting of all praise team members of both our first and second services at 5:00 p.m. at the church. We hope to see all of you here!

Sunday November 15 – We are continuing our study through the book of 1 John on Sunday mornings, and finding out what God has to say to us about discipleship and community. I hope you will join us as we come together to worship and learn.
